Wisconsin River Overall Fastest Known Paddle: 4D, 2H, 22M

Mike Shnitzka, age 31, Menomonee Falls & Bill Perdzock, age 31, of Menomonee Falls

May 10-14, 1995

424 miles (approx.)

Supported

Start: the dam at Lac Vieux Desert. 4pm on May 10, 1995.

Finish: Bridgeport ramp. 5:22pm on May 14th, 1995 (This website recognizes the confluence with the Mississippi as the end of this FKP route, not Bridgeport; see note below)

Support crew members: Mike Mlynarski, Pete Perdzock, Rod Hanson

Boat: Wenonah kevlar racing canoe

Notes: This team stopped at Bridgeport, approximately 5-6 miles above the confluence with the Mississippi. They decided to add an hour to their time to account for how long it would have taken them to go to the confluence. This was long before this website chose the confluence as the end of the route, therefore we are considering their time “grandfathered in”, and we recognize 4D, 2H and 22M as the time to beat to set a new FKP on this route.

“Escaping the Velvet Rut” a book by Michael Schnitzka that includes a chapter about his and Bill’s Wisconsin FKP attempt.
